Totalizator Sportowy sets new sales record in 2020

From this total, Totalizator Sportowy donated PLN1.10bn in subsidies to sport and cultural activities in Poland, breaking 2019’s previous record figure by 0.2%.

“Polish sport and national culture received more money than in 2019,” the operator said. “Thanks are due to Lotto players, without whom there would be no increase in sales, and thus no increase in funds going to these purposes.”

Of this figure, PLN827.5m went towards sport and PLN220.7m towards cultural activities.

This meant the operator’s revenue following these subsidies came to PLN15.38bn, up 55.5%.

In addition, Totalizator Sportowy paid PLN1.18bn in gaming taxes. This was up 9.2% year-on-year and meant that its overall contribution between subsidies and taxes was PLN2.29bn.

The year saw the operator introduce new products including live casino and opened 350 new slot arcades, making it Poland’s largest slot arcade operator with a total of 520.

Blitzpools fantasy platform signs up Indian cricket brand ambassadors

IGT.BET acquired a 51% stake in the Livepools online fantasy platform in February 2021, and subsequently rebranded the product as Blitzpools.

The company said its new brand ambassadors would attract their large and ever-growing fan base to the app, and be an integral part of the 360 degree digital and offline campaign activation of Blitzpools.

In addition to the cricketer partners, and as part of its new brand launch, IGT.BET said Blitzpools has engaged celebrities and influencers with a total follower count in excess of 215m.

The company said that with the rebrand and recent injection of capital as part of its recent majority investment, customers can now expect the already market-leading product to deliver new and exciting features at a faster pace.

IGT.BET said that through the rebrand and brand ambassador announcement, Blitzpools aims to take the fantasy sports market in India by storm, with customers offered industry-leading bonuses, deposit and payout options, and a constantly innovating product.

The platform will feature a coin-based loyalty programme, with users rewarded with valuable coins as they increase their engagement on the app.

The coins will be redeemable against gift vouchers, meet and greet sessions, cashback, tickets for sports matches and other offerings.

Another feature will offer winners the chance to create their own closed personal pools with friends, and ultimately win prizes offering the opportunity to play cricket against Blitzpools’ new brand ambassadors.

“We are embarking on a new journey and through this exciting adventure, we aim to capture and captivate the minds and hearts of every Indian consumer involved in online gaming,” said Vickram and Gaurav Assomull, founders of Livepools.

“Through this rebrand, we want to create an interactive user experience and strengthen the product in the Indian market. Giving it a fresh look and feel, we are also delighted to announce Ishan Kishan, Rahul Chahar, Shreyas Gopal and Wriddhiman Saha as the new faces of the brand.”

“By the end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Blitzpools is confident it will be home to one of the largest fantasy sports player bases in India.”

An IGT.BET spokesperson added: “We are beyond confident our investment, partnership and brand positioning with Blitzpools will further establish a strong foothold in the Indian fantasy gaming market. Prioritizing our customer, we will continue to create a world-class product for the Indian audience.”

Ulrik Bengtsson on the role of tech in William Hill’s global expansion

Ulrik Bengtsson speaks to Clarion Gaming about the digital transformation strategy he has implemented at the operator.

He explains why retail still has an important role to play in the company’s future, especially amid the ongoing wave of gaming expansion in the US, and why consumer insights need to be leveraged for more than just marketing.

Payment provider Xace appoints Osborne as new CCO

The new role will see Osborne take charge of Xace’s commercial sales and marketing strategies, as well as overseeing product development and customer experience.

Xace said it hopes the addition of Osborne can help facilitate further growth of the provider, which has plans to expand in Europe as the year progresses.

“I am delighted to welcome Annie to the team and for Xace to leverage her tremendous knowledge and experience not only of international payments but also of the global gambling industry as we continue to expand rapidly,” Xace chief executive David Hodkinson said.
“Xace provides a quality solution to a common problem that gaming companies across Europe encounter and this has seen us ride an incredible wave of growth in our first year. We now want to build on that and with Annie on board as CCO it will undoubtedly be another successful year for Xace.”

Osborne has more than a decade of experience within the payment industry, having previously worked for American Express and ACI.

“I’m delighted and immensely proud to be joining Xace at this stage of its growth,” Osborne said.  “It is an incredibly exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to playing a part in its continued success as the business expands its reach across Europe over the coming months.

“Its product offering, especially to gaming businesses, has led Xace to become the account and payment provider of choice for a number of companies both in and out of the sector.

“Now is the time to rapidly scale up and I look forward to playing my part in continuing the impressive journey.”

Entain rolls out new initiatives to support women in technology

The project will see the Entain Foundation, the operator’s not-for-profit affiliate, donate $250,000 (£180,600/€210,600) to Girls Who Code, a non-profit organisation working to close the gender gap in technology.

The funds will be used to support the Entain Foundation’s programmes aimed at bringing young women into the technology industry, with a particular focus on the UK, US, Canada and India.

The Entain Foundation will also provide a further AUD$50,000 (£27,700/€32,300/USD$38,200) in funding to the Tech Girls Movement Foundation in Australia, an organisation that challenges gender perceptions that limit girls’ participation science, technology engineering and mathematics through community and industry collaborations.

The launch of the new initiatives coincide with International Women’s Day, and also follow a host of women appointed to senior roles at Entain, including that of new chief executive Jette Nygaard-Andersen.

“One of the biggest impediments to career choices around the world continues to be cultural, based on preconceived notions of what society and young women themselves believe they can do,” Nygaard-Andersen said.

“That is why we are focusing on initiatives to support their education and build stronger pathways into technology-related careers.”

New Girls Who Code chief executive Tarika Barrett added: “This International Women’s Day, we’re excited to partner with the Entain Foundation to support young women around the world on their journey into the technical workforce.

“Our work together will help spur the creation of a fairer and more equitable workforce, helping more women of all backgrounds rise to the top and achieve their goals of working in tech.”

Tech Girls Movement founder and chief executive Jenine Beekhuyzen said: “The financial contribution from Entain Foundation will directly impact our ability to reach girls interested in technology across Australia, particularly in regional and remote areas.”
