Energame said its board accepted the resignation of Liashko (pictured) earlier this week during a shareholder meeting. He has been with Parimatch for seven years.
First serving as a partner from March 2016 to April 2021, Liashko went on to become co-CEO in April 2021, taking the role solo in April 2022.
He also became managing partner of Energame when the company was formed in January of this year.
Prior to his time with Parimatch, Liashko worked in law. He spent time as a legal advisor and lawyer, as well as head of the legal department at KP Media.
Following his exit, Energame and Parimatch will be managed directly by relevant corporate boards, with support from senior staff. All of the group’s companies will continue to operate as normal.
Energame also said it has launched a search to appoint a new CEO to lead the group.
Future of Parimatch in Ukraine remains uncertain
Formation of Energame came weeks before Parimatch was hit with a number of sanctions in Ukraine.
In March, Parimatch suspended its operations in the country in response to the sanctions imposed by Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Presidential Decree No 145/2023 implemented a decision from Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) to impose sanctions on 287 companies and 120 individuals.
Many of the companies were betting entities, including Parimatch. At the time, Zelensky said the move was a step against individuals and legal entities associated with the “evil state”, in reference to Russia.
Zelensky said gambling businesses had been withdrawing funds from Ukraine and financing activities in Russia. Ukraine has been at war with Russia for almost two years.
Parimatch has upheld its innocence over the matter and has gained some support. However, its operations remain suspended in Ukraine.
