Switzerland’s Mycasino to sponsor Champions Hockey League

Brokered by the Infront agency, the deal come into effect from the 2021-22 season, which is due to begin later this week.

The agreement will see mycasino serve as an official sponsor for CHL games in Switzerland and allow the operator to advertise at home games for the league’s Swiss teams.

Mycasino, which launched in August 2019, will also benefit from digital activations and rights, while its logo will appear in highlight videos featuring Swiss teams that are published on the CHL’s social media channels.

“The brand is a leader in its market and is known for providing innovative products and services of the highest quality produce and offer and thus share the attributes that the CHL gives to European ice hockey,” CHL chief executive Martin Baumann said.

Meanwhile, the CHL has signed a partnership with Swiss sports betting platform Sporttip in what the league said is its first “purely digital agreement”.

The deal will see a Sporttip betting widget, specifically tailored to Swiss fans, placed on the CHL’s website and in the official CHL app, allowing fans to see the live odds of their favourite CHL teams.

The Sporttip widget will feature in all game centres on the CHL website and in the official CHL app in Switzerland.

ESIC issues three bans in ongoing CS:GO match fixing investigation

The investigation concerns an ESEA tournament earlier this year, during which members of the Rebirth team were recorded discussing how to manipulate the outcome of a match. Said recording, along with a transcript, was handed to ESIC.

Sebastian “retchy” Tropiano and Kevin “4pack” Przypasniak have both been issued five-year bans effective from 2 April, while Carson “nosraC”. O’Reilly’s 111 day ban has already been served.

O’Reilly’s ban was significantly shorter due to the fact that he could only be heard saying one inconclusive sentence in the recording.

An ESIC statement said: After assessing Mr. O’Reilly’s participation in the conversation, ESIC further engaged in investigatory lines of enquiry to seek out any evidence of further involvement in any corrupt behavior beyond the recording. As at 22 July 2021, ESIC has concluded that there is currently no evidence that suggests that, unlike Mr Tropiano and Mr Przypasniak, Mr. O’Reilly perpetrated any other breaches of the Code.

Consequently, time served by Mr. O’Reilly under effective suspension from the period of 2 April 2021 to 22 July 2021 has been deemed, by the Commissioner, as a sufficient sanction proportionate to his offence and he has been free since 22 July 2021, to play in ESIC member events.”

ESIC’s inquiry is still ongoing, with a further 34 investigations being carried out into the matter. It took the time to publish these sanctions early due to the fact that the compromising recording was published online in April, and therefore already in the public domain.

ESIC recently banned three ESL Legends of Runeterra (LoR) players for 12 months after they were found to be cheating during a tournament.

The organisation today launched a new transparency initiative, through which it will publish a register of ongoing investigations.

Murray Jordan resigns from SkyCity board amid snap lockdown

The resignation will take effect from 30 September 2021.

Jordan joined the SkyCity board in December 2016 and had chaired the board’s People and Culture Committee since January 2018.

He also oversaw SkyCity’s New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) and Horizon Hotel project in Auckland, in the role of chair of the board’s NZICC sub-committee.

Last week SkyCity announced the closure of its Auckland and Hamilton locations, along with its Queenstown casino and entertainment location, due to the snap novel coronavirus (Covid-19) nationwide lockdowns.

The measures follow a single positive Covid-19 case in the Auckland community.

Auckland and Coromandel are expected to remain at level 4 for seven days, while the rest of New Zealand will be at the same level for three days.

Mississippi sports betting revenue slips to 12-month low in July

Revenue for the month was 123.1% higher than July last year, but 9.4% lower than $3.2m in June this year and also the fourth consecutive month of decline in the state.

The large year-on-year increase was primarily due to the return to a more traditional sports calendar, with events last year having been disrupted by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Coastal casinos accounted for $1.34m of total revenue for the month, marginally ahead of central casinos on $1.28m, while the remaining $272,324 came from northern casinos in the state.

In terms of handle, while this was 288.6% higher than $7.9m in July 2020, it was also 28.8% down from $43.1m in June this year and the lowest monthly total since July last year.

ESIC launches new register of ongoing integrity cases

The first part of the four-phase initiative will see ESIC roll out a publicly accessible Matters Register, detailing all disclosable ESIC investigations. All information will be constantly updated.

The Public Sanctions Registry will compile all sanctions handed down by ESIC and make them accessible to the public. The name of the sanctioned party, sanction duration, type, start and end date and status will all be available.

The Public Appeals Registry will detail all current appeals received by the Independent Appeals Panel as well as their respective status, making information such as name of appellant, appeal date and decision widely accessible.

ESIC has recently signed new anti-corruption supporters in the form of Ultimate Tournament and Esports Technologies.

Brazil senate’s Executive Committee selects rapporteur to represent IR bill

In this role, do Rêgo  will represent the bill in the legislature. His selection was approved through an 8-5 vote in the Executive Committee.

The bill, first introduced in September 2020, would allow for the creation of integrated resorts, of which casinos may occupy up to 10%.

Each state will be allowed to host one integrated resort.

The operator of each resort will be selected through a bidding process. The bid will be selected based on a scoring system with 70% worth of points awarded for the quality of the bid itself and the remaining 30% based on the value the operator will pay back to the government.

Each concession shall last 35 years.

The federal government may allow for a second resort to be built in every state ten years after the winning bidder for the first resort signs its concession.

At least 80% of employees in each resort must be from the state in which it is located.

Operators must also implement a number of player protection and anti-money laundering measures. This includes verifying the identity of anyone who deposits or withdraws more than BRL10,000 (£1,361/€1,585/$1,859) in a single day.

If operators are found to have breached any laws, they may receive fine that can be between BRL10,000 and BRL1m.

The Contribution for Intervention in the Domain will also be set up. This will collect 5% of gaming revenue from the resorts established in the bill, sending 50% of this tax to the Municipal Participation Fund and 30% to the State Participation Fund, where it can then be distributed by local and state governments, respectively.

The remaining 20% of funds collected from the 5% levy will be used to promote tourism.

Brazil is currently taking steps to legalise a number of new forms of gambling after a long prohibition on games of chance. Its efforts to allow sports betting have been extremely drawn out, however. A change in proposed regulation to a concession model instead of licensing was one of the reasons for a delay in the process.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro formally added sports betting to the country’s agenda last August, signing a decree to add sports wagering to Brazil’s Investment Partnership Program (PPI) portfolio and national privatisation programme and appointing managers to lead the licensing process.

Last month, the Brazilian federal government approved changes which will see the country implement a tax system based on gross gaming revenue (GGR), rather than turnover.

Betway owner Super Group expects revenue to reach $762.2m in first half

The business, which also operates a multi-brand online casino offering Spin, did not publish its full results for the first half at this stage, but did confirm that estimated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for the period will be “well within” management expectations.

Super Group added that its performance in the first half and expected showing for the rest of 2021 means it is on track to meet its financial outlook for the full year.

In April, Super Group entered into a definitive agreement to merge with special purpose acquisition business Sports Entertainment Acquisition Corp. (SEAC) and expand its offering into the US market.

Under the arrangement, Super Group is set to combine with SEAC and apply to list shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the new ticker symbol ‘SGHC’, with the new business to operate under the name Super Group.
